I never thought I’d be so in love with talking to my little boy that I’d actually pick up a pen and write down what he said. Yesterday we were playing in his room and he started making a pile of books. I was about to praise him for picking up, but decided instead to ask him what he was doing. He said, “These are my seven favorite books.” He only had about 3 books at the time, so I replied, “Oh, do you have any other favorites?” He showed them each to me in turn. “I love Sneetches and Other Stories,” he said (and yes, he said and Other Stories. I have since been informed that “the pale green pants with nobody inside them” is both Matt’s & Gabriel’s favorite out of this book.). “And I love [Curious] George and the Puppies. Oh, and more George.” (He has several Curious George books) “Mommy, Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite” (he adds that to the top of the pile and mutters something about “I will eat them in a house” under his breath) “and [Phila] Delphia Chickens. Mommy brought me that one!” He got two new books after that: The Cat in the Hat & The Cat in the Hat Comes Back (hey, they were $5 each at Target!!). I’m pretty sure they’ll be added to his list of favorites before too much longer.
